The federal government has accelerated its youth employment strategy by designating the Digital Youth Hub (DYH) as the central national platform, Chairman Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan said on Wednesday, that coordinated directives have been issued to align skills development with global market demands and expand employment opportunities for Pakistani youth through a unified, technology-driven framework.
According to official details, the government has declared the Digital Youth Hub the cornerstone of its youth employment campaign, integrating a wide range of opportunities, including scholarships, vocational training, internships, apprenticeships, and job placements into a single accessible platform.
All federal and provincial institutions have been directed to connect their schemes with DYH on a priority basis to ensure wider outreach and institutional cohesion.
Mr Khan said that, on the Prime Minister’s instructions, key ministries including Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Foreign Affairs, and Federal Education and Professional Training along with institutions such as the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission and the Higher Education Commission, are actively mapping high demand skills in major international labour markets.
These include the European Union, Gulf Cooperation Council countries, South Korea, Malaysia, and Japan.
Highlighting the government’s outward looking approach, the chairman said specialised “Country of Destination Centres” would be established to enhance overseas employment prospects.
These centres will provide comprehensive training in technical expertise, language proficiency, and soft skills, equipping young Pakistanis with the competencies required to meet international standards and cultural expectations.
He further noted that the government is working to secure international recognition for Pakistan’s curricula, qualifications, and training institutions, a move aimed at facilitating smoother workforce mobility and integration into global markets.
Reinforcing the national focus on skills development, Mr Khan said the government has declared 2027 as the “Year of Information and Skills,” encouraging citizens across all segments of society to acquire at least one market-relevant skill as part of their educational or professional journey.
Officials said relevant departments have been tasked with ensuring timely implementation of these initiatives, supported by quarterly reviews to monitor progress, address gaps, and strengthen accountability.
The initiative, Mr Khan added, reflects the government’s broader vision to develop a globally competitive, skilled workforce, expand international employment avenues, and empower Pakistan’s youth to contribute meaningfully to economic growth.
