The Employees of University of Peshawar (UoP) have once again taken to the streets in protest against the non-payment of their salaries, causing significant movement disruption in the city on Monday.
According to a report, the protesting staff blocked the main University Road, leading to severe traffic congestion and creating difficulties for commuters. The protest, which has been ongoing intermittently has now intensified as employees demand immediate payment of their dues.
The demonstrators stated that they are forced to protest every month just to receive their salaries. They expressed frustration over what they described as the lack of response from both the university administration and the provincial government.
“We are struggling to make ends meet. Without salaries, it has become extremely difficult to run our households and in some cases, we are facing severe financial hardship,” one of the protesting employees said.
The situation highlights growing concerns over financial management and employee welfare at the university, as repeated delays in salary payments continue to affect staff and their families.
Traffic authorities have urged commuters to use alternative routes while negotiations or administrative action are awaited to resolve the issue.
