PESHAWAR: The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has intensified its actions against narcotics, recovering a significant quantity of drugs and liquor while arresting two suspects in separate operations in the provincial capital. According to officials, the Excise Police Station Peshawar Region, acting on a tip-off, carried out an operation near H Gol Chowk where more than one kilogram (1005 grams) of crystal meth (commonly known as ice) was recovered from a suspect. The accused, identified as Mushtaq Ahmad, son of Muhammad Shahid and a resident of Bara, was arrested on the spot. A case has been registered against him, and further investigation was underway. In a separate operation, the excise team recovered three bottles of liquor and arrested another suspect. Authorities said a case had also been registered in this regard, with legal proceedings initiated. Officials of the department said that indiscriminate actions against narcotics would continue, adding that all available resources were being utilised to curb drug trafficking and eliminate the menace from society.
