An elderly resident of Mansehra district, Muhammad Nawaz, has appealed to the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, seeking humanitarian consideration and clemency regarding the detention of his son along with several other Pakistani nationals.
According to details shared by the family, Muhammad Nawaz’s son has been employed in Saudi Arabia for several years. It is reported that during recent regional tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Saudi Arabia, he allegedly shared or commented on social media content that was considered a violation of Saudi laws.
Following the incident, he was reportedly taken into custody by Saudi authorities over two months ago. Family sources also claim that a number of other Pakistani workers are facing similar detentions in connection with comparable social media-related cases.
The families of the detainees have expressed deep concern and distress, urging the Saudi authorities to review the cases on humanitarian grounds. They maintain that if any mistake was made unintentionally, the individuals should be given an opportunity for leniency or release.
In their appeal, the family emphasized the long-standing friendly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, describing the Kingdom as a close and brotherly nation that has consistently supported Pakistan in difficult times.
They have requested that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman personally look into the matter and help resolve the situation in a humane and compassionate manner, in order to alleviate the suffering of affected Pakistani families.
