Provincial Chairman of Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow over the killing of religious scholar Maulana Idrees Shaheed, terming it a great loss for society and religious circles.
He expressed these views during a condolence visit to the family, students and workers of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) in the Turangzai area of Charsadda, where he offered Fateha and extended solidarity with the bereaved family.
Sikandar Sherpao said the slain cleric was a distinguished religious scholar whose life reflected morality, tolerance and service to Islam. He added that Maulana Idrees had dedicated his life to religious education and the guidance of the younger generation.
He conveyed a special condolence message on behalf of the QWP and its chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, stating that the latter had a close personal association with the deceased scholar.
The QWP leader said the martyrdom of Maulana Idrees had saddened people across the province and prayed for the elevation of his ranks and patience for the bereaved family.
Expressing concern over the deteriorating law and order situation, he said incidents of violence were on the rise and innocent people were falling victim to terrorism.
He criticized both federal and provincial governments for failing to adopt an effective strategy to address the issue.
He warned that if immediate and comprehensive measures were not taken, the situation could further deteriorate, stressing the need for urgent steps to ensure lasting peace and protection of citizens.
