The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has pledged full support for the families affected by the recent tragedy in Hangu, with provincial officials promising compensation and long-term assistance for the victims.
Acting on the directions of the Chief Minister Sohail Khan Afridi, Special Assistant for Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan visited the affected areas along with the Member of the National Assembly Yousaf Khan to offer condolences to bereaved families and inquire about the condition of the injured.
The delegation visited the homes of victims, met wounded residents and assured families that the provincial government would not abandon them during the difficult period.
“The government stands shoulder to shoulder with the affected families and they will not be left alone,” Shafi Jan said during the visit. He added the Chief Minister had taken immediate notice of the incident and directed relevant authorities to ensure all possible assistance for the victims and their families.
“Human lives cannot be replaced, but the government will provide a special martyrs’ package for the families of those who lost their lives,” he declared.
Speaking on the province’s security situation, Shafi Jan said lasting peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remained the government’s top priority and noted that the Chief Minister had convened several Grand Jirgas aimed at restoring stability in the region.
“We believe peace cannot be achieved through military operations alone. Sustainable peace requires public cooperation, unity and collective efforts,” he said.
He also expressed concern over the continued impact of militancy on Pashtun communities, saying the government was determined to make the province peaceful again “at all costs.”
The delegation also held meetings with the local elders to discuss various aspects of the incident, while residents welcomed the government’s outreach and expression of solidarity with the affected families.
