RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on Saturday conducted eight operations around educational institutions and in various cities across the country, arrested eight suspects, including a woman, and recovered 44.324 kilograms(kgs) of narcotics worth more than Rs 7.6 million. According to an ANF spokesperson, 7.2 kgs of hashish were recovered from a vehicle near a university in Islamabad, and two suspects were arrested. The accused confessed to supplying drugs to students of educational institutions. In international interdiction operations, ANF recovered 2.61 kgs of ice concealed in a sherwani parcel destined for the United Kingdom at a cargo office in Multan. In another operation at a courier office in Rawalpindi, officials seized 1.512 kgs of ice hidden inside hockey balls packed for Australia. At Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, 1.202 kgs of ice were recovered from the trolley bag of a female passenger travelling to Bahrain, leading to her arrest. During domestic operations, ANF recovered 10.8 kgs of hashish from two suspects near a bus terminal in Sukkur. Near Kaak Pul Bus Terminal in Islamabad, four kgs of hashish were seized from two motorcyclists, while two kgs of ice were recovered from a suspect near Old Haji Camp on G.T. Road in Peshawar. In a separate raid near the Shadi Kaur coastal line in Pasni, officials recovered 15 kgs of ice along with 23 pistols and 46 magazines. Cases have been registered against the accused under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, and further investigations are underway. DNA
