The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has placed all relevant departments on high alert in view of expected heavy rains, strong winds, and the risk of glacial lake outburst floods in upper parts of the province.
Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan said in a statement that instructions have been issued to district administrations and concerned departments to remain vigilant, closely monitor sensitive glacial areas, and keep early warning systems active.
He said all departments are fully prepared to respond to any emergency situation, while the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) is continuously monitoring weather conditions and potential risks.
Shafi Jan urged the public, especially tourists, to take precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary travel to vulnerable areas. He added that in case of any emergency, citizens should immediately contact the PDMA helpline 1700.
