PESHAWAR
A major tragedy was averted in Hangu after police successfully defused a 10-kilogram improvised explosive device (IED) planted on Samari Road within the limits of City Police Station.
According to police on Monday, the lethal remote-controlled bomb was discovered and safely defused during a timely operation carried out by the Bomb Disposal Squad.
District Police Officer (DPO) Hangu, Tariq Habib Khan, said the explosive device had apparently been planted with malicious intentions to carry out a terrorist act. He added that the swift response by the Bomb Disposal Squad helped save the area from a possible disaster.
Following the incident, heavy police deployment reached the site, cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace those involved.
The DPO urged citizens to immediately report any suspicious activity to the police, emphasizing that the protection of lives and property remains the top priority of law enforcement agencies.
