At least seven people, including four real brothers were killed and several others injured in a deadly shooting incident triggered by a pathway dispute in the Mian Isa area of Nowshera district on Tuesday.
According to police and eyewitnesses, neighbours engaged in argument over a passage route in front of their houses, suddenly opened fire at each other.
As a result of heavy fire, five people reportedly died on the spot, while others succumbed to injuries later.
Police said the bodies and injured were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Nowshera for medical treatment and legal formalities.
After the incident, the attackers managed to escape from the scene. Heavy police contingents from Akora Khattak and Chhota Lahore rushed to the area, cordoned off the locality and began collecting evidence.
DSP Akora Circle, Adnan Azam Khan said initial investigations suggest the clash may have erupted over tree cutting or a land-related dispute. However, he added that the exact cause would be determined after a thorough investigation.
Police said four brothers from one party were among the deceased, while the rival side lost two brothers and their father in the violence.
The incident has created severe tension and fear in the area, while police have launched a full-scale investigation to arrest the suspects and determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
