Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi on Thursday announced a major Eid gift for the people of Peshawar, saying that the upgraded Awam Express train equipped with modern facilities will be inaugurated before Eid-ul-Adha.
The minister said the formal inauguration ceremony of the Awam Express would be held on May 24, adding that the train was being fully upgraded to provide passengers with improved travel facilities ahead of Eid, said a news release.
He said that the modernized Awam Express, fitted with advanced rakes and upgraded amenities, would ensure a faster, more comfortable and quality journey between Peshawar and Karachi.
Hanif Abbasi said the government’s vision was to provide safe, modern and comfortable travel facilities to the public, adding that Pakistan Railways was taking practical steps to modernize the railway system across the country.
The minister announced that one premier train would be launched from every major city as part of efforts to improve rail connectivity and passenger services.
He reiterated that the improvement of Pakistan Railways and facilitation of passengers remained the top priority of the ministry.
