A considerable movement forward has taken place in connection with talks on important points regarding budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 between government and PPP.
PPP leadership has reached consensus with government on certain key issues including defence.
According to sources PPP and ruling party PML-N are getting close to each other on sensitive matters. Consensus on several important points is looking possible.
Sources said PPP has given alternative proposals instead of amendment in NFC Award.
As per sources PPP is ready for bringing change in the process on distribution of funds between the provinces, defence budget and customs duty.
Government has agreed on making PPP proposals regarding development funds part of budget.
Working paper based on proposals from PPP is under discussion between the both sides.
Sources said PPP has sought time on the matter of bringing back ministries of health and education to federation.
These two ministries were handed over to the provinces under 18th constitutional amendment.
The talks between the both political parties on the matter of handing over Benazir Income Support program (BISP) to provinces is underway .
Consultation is being made on change in the formula on distribution of funds without handing over BISP to provinces.
As per sources PPP is stressing on allocating more funds in the budget for rehabilitation and restoration of flood affected areas. Behind the door talks are continuing between government and PPP with reference to 28th constitutional amendment.
