Police claimed to have solved the high-profile triple-murder case that occurred in Sheikh Maltoon Town, arresting four suspects and recovering the stolen vehicle and weapons allegedly used in the crime.
Addressing a press conference, District Police Officer (DPO) Masood Ahmed said that following the incident, a special investigation team was constituted on the directives of the DIG Mardan Region.
The team was headed by SP Investigation Nisar Ahmed Khan and included SP City Maria Mustafa, DSP Sheikh Maltoon Circle Irshad Khan, DSP Rustam Circle Ashiq Hussain, SHO Sheikh Maltoon, and other investigation officers. The DPO said the case was traced within a short period through the use of modern investigative techniques, technical evidence and a professional inquiry strategy, leading to the arrest of four suspects. The arrested men were identified as Imad, Jawad, Sanan and Atif, all residents of the district. Police teams were conducting raids to arrest a fifth suspect, Ashraf, son of Umar Khan, who remains at large.
According to the initial investigation, the suspects had visited the victims’ residence and allegedly planned the crime after developing criminal intentions. Police said the accused snatched mobile phones and a motor vehicle before killing three members of the family.
The suspects also allegedly abducted two minor children of the victims following the killings. The children were later recovered safely by police near Charsadda Chowk.
Mr Ahmed said police had recovered the stolen car and two pistols from the possession of the arrested suspects. Further investigation into the case is underway.
