Islamabad (Online): Pakistan would Chair the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly(APA) mandated to discuss the significant developments in Asia during upcoming 9th Plenary of APA to be held in Cambodia.
This was informed during a meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Focal Group held here at the Senate of Pakistan. Chairman
Senate Mian Raza Rabbani also participated in the meeting and deliberated to further augment the the role of the APA and contribution of the Pakistan to the forum.
During the recent meeting of APA in Cambodia , a resolution was adopted in which Pakistani delegation actively participated and presented Pakistan’s stance effectively on issue specially Kashmir issue. The resolution also
called for peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue according to the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiri people while adhering to the UNSC resolutions.
The proposal of creation of Asian Parliament was also floated by Pakistan in the 7th Plenary of the APA hosted by Senate of Pakistan in Lahore in 2014 and since then has vigorously pursued the said goal. Many Asian countries endorsed the proposal and lauded Pakistan’s role in this regard.
