PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority Khyber Pakhtinkhwa has issued a Glacier Lake Outburst Flood alert for several upper districts of the province, citing a rapid rise in temperatures and accelerated glacial melting. In its advisory issued on Saturday, the PDMA said the extreme hot weather has heightened the risk of GLO incidents, flash floods, and landslides across vulnerable mountain areas. District administrations in Upper and Lower Chitral, Swat, Upper Dir, Kohistan, and Mansehra have been directed to take pre-emptive measures. The PDMA instructed authorities in sensitive glacial zones to remain on high alert and maintain round-the-clock monitoring. Rescue institutions, heavy machinery, and emergency personnel have been ordered to stay on standby. The authority also directed timely evacuation of at-risk populations to safer locations. The PDMA urged tourists to refrain from unnecessary travel and to avoid rivers, streams, and glacial zones. DLP Report
