A three-day cultural festival, “Buner Gul Da Namair 2026”, organised by the Directorate General of Sports, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, began on Monday with a colourful opening ceremony at the Government Degree College, Daggar.
Director General Sports Tashfeen Haider, Deputy Commissioner Shehryar Qamar, former tehsil nazims Syed Salar Jehan and Haji Sharif Khan, along with a large number of residents, athletes and youth, attended the inaugural event.
The opening ceremony featured cultural performances by local artists showcasing Buner’s traditional music, folk arts and cultural heritage. Magic shows, martial arts demonstrations, fire performances and a fireworks display were among the highlights of the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Director General Sports Tashfeen Haider said the festival reflected the unique cultural identity and traditions of Buner while providing healthy recreational opportunities for the public, particularly young people.
He said the event would also serve as a platform to promote local talent, adding that Buner had produced several athletes who had represented Pakistan at national and international levels.
Deputy Commissioner Shehryar Qamar said cultural and sporting events encouraged youth to engage in positive activities and assured the district administration’s full support for the successful conduct of the festival.
Former tehsil nazim Syed Salar Jehan said organising cultural and recreational activities was important for community development and expressed the hope that such events would continue in the future.
