Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan on Thursday directed Wapda authorities to immediately end unnecessary and unannounced electricity loadshedding in Kohat, expressing concern over prolonged power outages disrupting daily life and business activities.
The directive was issued during a meeting chaired by the minister at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Kohat. Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nawaz Wazir, Assistant Commissioner Naveed Ahmad, former Gumbat tehsil mayor Sajid Iqbal, Qasim Zubair, focal person to MNA Shehryar Khan Afridi, local elders and Wapda officials attended the meeting.
The participants reviewed the impact of prolonged and unscheduled power cuts on residents, businesses and public services, observing that extended outages had caused serious difficulties for consumers across the district.
Mr Jan said ensuring the provision of basic public services was a priority of the provincial government and described unnecessary power outages as unacceptable. He directed the authorities concerned to improve the electricity distribution system, address technical faults on a priority basis and ensure the prompt resolution of public complaints.
