To ensure the peaceful observance of Chehlum Hazrat Imam Hussain, maintain law and order, and further strengthen interfaith harmony and cooperation, Capital City Police Peshawar has accelerated coordination with religious leaders and relevant stakeholders.
According to a statement issued here on Tuesday, an important meeting was held at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines Peshawar under the chairmanship of CCPO Peshawar Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmad, where detailed discussions were held regarding security arrangements and mutual cooperation.
The meeting was attended by SSP Operations Peshawar Farhan Khan, SP Headquarters Ali Gohar Khan, SP Security Sajjad Hussain, SP Cantt Muhammad Junaid Kharl, SP City Shahid Adnan, along with a delegation of Imamia Jirga led by its head Sardar Aqeel Hussain Zahid and other religious representatives.
During the meeting, participants reviewed security measures for Chehlum Hazrat Imam Hussain, including routes of processions, locations of Majalis, overall law and order situation, coordination among departments, and measures to promote interfaith harmony. The recommendations and suggestions presented by the Imamia Jirga delegation were also discussed, and it was agreed to further strengthen and improve the security plan.
Speaking on the occasion, CCPO Peshawar Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmad appreciated the exemplary cooperation, responsible role, and positive contribution of the Imamia Jirga, Shia religious leaders, and scholars during Muharram in maintaining peace and harmony.
He said that Peshawar Police considers the protection of citizens’ lives and property and the peaceful conduct of all religious gatherings its top priority. He added that a fresh security audit of sensitive locations, procession routes, and Majalis venues across the city has been completed, and all arrangements have been finalized.
The CCPO said that, like previous years, a foolproof security plan has been prepared for Chehlum Hazrat Imam Hussain. Under the plan, modern security measures, including the Safe City Project, CCTV cameras, drone technology, anti-drone systems, camera surveillance, and other advanced monitoring tools have been fully activated to ensure effective surveillance of processions, Majalis, and sensitive areas across the city.
He further stated that the role of religious scholars, community leaders, and people from all schools of thought remains vital in maintaining peace and stability. He emphasized that unity, tolerance, mutual respect, and cooperation among all segments of society are the key foundations for lasting peace during Chehlum Hazrat Imam Hussain and all other religious occasions.
