Provincial Minister for Health Khaleeq ur Rehman has directed officials to ensure the timely completion of the Secondary Healthcare Revamp Project, emphasizing that upgraded district and tehsil-level hospitals are essential for providing quality healthcare services closer to the public.
He issued these directives while chairing a comprehensive review meeting of the project at the Health Department. The meeting was attended by Secretary Health Fayaz Ali Shah, Project Director of the Secondary Healthcare Revamp Project along with his team, and senior officials of the department.
During the meeting, the Project Director presented a detailed briefing on the current progress of the initiative and updated the participants on developments under various components of the project. The briefing highlighted ongoing measures aimed at improving secondary healthcare facilities across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through enhanced infrastructure, provision of modern medical equipment, improved health information systems, and better service delivery mechanisms.
The Project Director informed the meeting that medical equipment has been provided to the designated hospitals according to their specific needs and requirements. He added that the project is moving forward as planned, with continuous efforts being made to complete all activities within the stipulated timeline while ensuring quality standards.
Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Minister for Health Khaleeq ur Rehman said that strengthening secondary healthcare facilities remains one of the key priorities of the provincial government. He stated that district and tehsil-level hospitals are being equipped with modern facilities, advanced medical equipment, and efficient management systems to ensure that people receive quality healthcare services near their homes.
The Minister directed the relevant authorities to enhance coordination among all stakeholders for the effective and timely execution of project activities. He emphasized that every component of the project must contribute to visible improvements in patient care, hospital performance, and overall healthcare delivery. He also instructed officials to ensure regular monitoring of implementation progress.
Secretary Health Fayaz Ali Shah directed the Deputy Secretary Health Department to convene a meeting with all relevant stakeholders, including representatives of health sector projects, the Health Information Systems Development Unit (HISDU), and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB), to discuss the development and implementation of a comprehensive and standardized Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) for primary and secondary healthcare facilities across the province.
The Secretary Health highlighted that a unified HMIS would improve data accuracy, strengthen healthcare planning and monitoring, support evidence-based decision-making, and enhance coordination across the healthcare system. He stressed the importance of establishing an integrated digital platform for efficient hospital management and improved patient care through reliable health information.
Concluding the meeting, Provincial Minister for Health Khaleeq ur Rehman reiterated the government’s commitment to modernizing the healthcare sector and directed all concerned departments to work in close coordination for the successful implementation of the Secondary Healthcare Revamp Project. He said the initiative reflects the government’s vision of providing accessible, efficient, and high-quality healthcare services to the people of KP.
