A man and his wife were shot dead by unidentified assailants in the Misri Banda area of Nowshera, police said on Wednesday. According to police, the bodies were shifted to Qazi Hussain Ahmad Medical Complex in Nowshera for post-mortem examination. Preliminary investigations suggest the incident was linked to the husband’s second marriage. Police said the suspects are believed to be the brothers of the man’s first wife, who allegedly opened fire on their brother-in-law and his second wife before fleeing the scene.
The deceased, identified as Matiullah was a resident of Swat and had moved to Misri Banda after contracting a second marriage. Police said the attack took place during the small hours on Wednesday.
A case has been registered at Misri Banda Police Station and an investigation is underway.
