Campaign launches against illegal drug sales

LANDIKOTAL: The Khyber district administration in collaboration with health authorities on Wednesday launched campaign against the sale of medicines without the registered doctor prescription. In this connection, an awareness walk was also arranged in Landikotal which was participated by health officials,civil society members,drugs dealers and retailers. Talking to journalists drug inspector Baqir said that on the directives of Director General drugs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Abbas Khan, he visited Landikotal and led an awareness walk from Bacha Khan Chowk in the main bazaar. He said the sale of controlled medicines, including Gabica, without a registered medical doctor’s prescription was a criminal offense.
He said medicines including opiate,painkillers,pain relievers,analgesic,anodyne,anesthetic,tranguilizing,sedative and stupefacient drugs were strangling prohibited to sale without doctor prescription. The health official said that the mentioned medicines were being used by youngsters and drug addicts which causing death.
“Now a days,youngsters who are drug addicted use narcotics drugs with Stang beverage for sadetive purpose which is harmful and damage human body within few months”said Imran Khattak a medicines dealer in Landikotal bazaar.
He warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found violating the law.
He urged pharmacy owners and drugs dealers to strictly follow government drug regulations to help protect young people from the harmful effects of drug abuse.
He also appealed to the public to discourage the illegal sale and misuse of medicines and report any violations to the relevant authorities to help eliminate the menace from society.
