Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s Demands Are Entirely in Line with the Constitution and the Law: Minister for Information
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relations, Shafi Jan, has said that the historic Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf public gathering in Peshawar marks the formal launch of the movement for the release of PTI Founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan. He said the unprecedent public participation, particularly by the youth, reflected their unwavering confidence in Imran Khan and chief minister Sohail Afridi. He added that the pti public gathering would serve as a major milestone for Imran Khan’s release movement.
The Minister said that the overwhelming turnout of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and PTI supporters demonstrated that Imran Khan continues to be the country’s most popular political leader. He stated that the demands presented by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi during his address were entirely consistent with the Constitution and the law.
Shafi Jan stressed that Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi must be provided justice without delay, emphasizing that timely administration of justice are their fundamental constitutional and legal rights. He called for the immediate removal of all restrictions imposed on Imran Khan and demanded unrestricted access for his family members, legal counsel, personal physicians, political colleagues, and friends. He further urged the authorities to ensure that all facilities and rights guaranteed under the Jail Manual are provided without delay. He maintained that all of PTI’s demands are constitutional, lawful, and fully legitimate.
The Minister information said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has consistently pursued every constitutional and legal avenue to secure access to Imran Khan, ensure justice, and safeguard his fundamental rights. He stated that Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, are being held in solitary confinement and denied access to doctors, lawyers, and the party leadership, describing the situation as a serious violation of the Constitution, the law, prison regulations, and internationally recognized fundamental human rights.
Shafi Jan further said that a historic Long March towards Islamabad will take place on September 27, with the participation of a large number of people and PTI workers from across the country. He reaffirmed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf will continue its movement strictly within the framework of the Constitution and the law and will pursue every democratic, constitutional, and legal avenue to secure the release of Imran Khan, uphold the rule of law, and protect the mandate of the people.
