Imran Khan’s Sisters and Personal Doctors Must Be Allowed to Meet Him Immediately: Shafi Jan
PTI Parliamentarians to Stage Sit-in Outside Supreme Court in Islamabad Tomorrow ( Tuesday) : Information Minister
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan has expressed serious concern over reports regarding health of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Founding Chairman Imran Khan and demanded that facts about his health be made public immediately.Shafi Jan said any negligence or interference concerning Imran Khan’s health would be unacceptable. He said that continued restrictions on meetings with Imran Khan reflect authoritarian approach of federal and Punjab governments.
“The entire nation, along with Imran Khan’s family, party leadership and workers is deeply concerned about his health. His sisters and personal doctors must be allowed to meet him immediately,” he said.
Provincial Minister Shafi Jan said Imran Khan has been kept in solitary confinement for past nine months, while his family, personal doctors and party leadership have been denied access to him. He pointed out that, in the past, Nawaz Sharif was granted relief on medical grounds while Maryam Nawaz was also granted bail on medical grounds to care for him.
Shafi Jan said that rulers in the federal and Punjab governments travel abroad for medical treatment even for minor ailments, while Imran Khan is being denied basic medical care and access to his family and personal doctors. in accordance with announcement by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, all PTI members of National Assembly , Provincial Assemblies and Senators will stage a sit-in outside the Supreme Court in Islamabad tomorrow, Tuesday.
He said that party has approached every constitutional and legal forum to secure basic medical facilities for Imran Khan, his transfer to a hospital and access to essential healthcare.
Provincial Minister for Information warned that if Imran Khan’s sisters are not allowed to meet him tomorrow, all PTI parliamentarians will gather outside Adiala Jail on Thursday.
Shafi Jan said Chief Minister Sohail Afridi had made no unconstitutional or unlawful demand. Meeting with Imran Khan and ensuring access to adequate medical care are his fundamental constitutional and legal rights. Unfortunately Federal and Punjab governments are seriously violating Constitution, law and fundamental human rights by denying him these rights.
He further stated that a full-scale long march towards Islamabad will be held on September 27, saying that “no option other than the long march remains.”
“The youth, Shaheens of Allama Iqbal are fully prepared and highly motivated to participate in long march towards Islamabad,” he added.
