Addressing the press conference, Sajida Karyo and her husband Muhammad Rahim Karyo said they had contracted a love marriage at the Sehwan court approximately one-and-a-half months ago. They alleged that Sajida’s relatives and former husband had since been issuing threats to kill them.
The couple alleged that they faced threats to their lives and property from Sajida’s former husband Sajjad Karyo, his brothers Abbas Ali, Zamin Ali and Ayaz Ali, as well as other relatives including Rasool Bakhsh, Ghulam Hussain, Urs, Javed Ali, Sajjad Ali, Tariq, Farooq, Jabbar, Qadeer Chhutto, Abdul Karim, Ameer, Moso, Ilyas, Noro and Majeed Karyo, besides other unidentified individuals.
Muhammad Rahim and Sajida Karyo further alleged that a case had also been registered against the husband and his in-laws, accusing them of allegedly making false claims regarding one-and-a-half tolas of gold and jewellery and cash amounting to Rs9.8 million.
They demanded a transparent investigation into the case and called for its withdrawal if the allegations were found to be false.
The couple said they had been living in severe fear and distress since their marriage and claimed that they faced threats to their lives and property from the former husband, relatives and their alleged associates.
They appealed to the Inspector General of Police Sindh, DIG Mirpurkhas, SSP Mirpurkhas, SSP Umerkot and other senior officials to provide them immediate protection and take legal action against those allegedly threatening them.
