Regional Cricket Association Karachi welcome to Zone-I to Organize one day cricket tournament without any entery fee and hoped that like Zone-I other Zones will also organize Cricket Tournaments with out any entry fee to provide maximum opportunities to players.
These views expressed by Coordinator of Regional Cricket Association Karachi Azam Khan while addressing as Chief Guest at opening ceremony of Muhammed Zameer Khan Memorial Zone-I One Day Cricket Tournament. He appreciated the efforts being made by President of Zone-I Muhammad Khurram Ashraf for promotion of cricket and providing opportunities to players.
Presiding the ceremony Chairman Tournament Committee of Regional Cricket Association Karachi Khalid Nafees said that under the leadership of Nadeem Umar, club cricket has formally started in entire Karachi. He said that those people who were running their shops in name of club cricket, they should see that now club cricket is being held regularly in entire Karachi and full opportunities to players to play cricket.
Joint Secretary of Regional Cricket Association Karachi Muhammad Touseef Siddiqui said our Talent Hunt programme also in progress and club cricket also played through out the years in Karachi compared to other cities of country.
Muhammad Khurram Ashraf President Zone-I and Muhammad Nizam Member Media Committee Regional Cricket Association Karachi also addressed the ceremony.
On this occasion Saim Ahmad President Zone-VI, Umar Touseef Secretary Zone-I, Muhammad Ahmad Naqvi, Rehan Siddiqui, Zafar Ahmad Assistant Secretaries, Coach Tahir Mahmood, Nusratullah Chairman Ground Committee, Majid Khan Member Media Committee RCAK, Arif Waheed Khan former Secretary Zone-I, M Tariq Hafeez Joint Secretary Zone-I, S.A. Faheem, Javed Iqbal, M.Imran, Shahabuddin and other dignitaries also present.
In the opening match Al-Imran Cricket Club defeated Munawwar Sports by 10 wickets. Munawwar Sports batting first and all out 129 runs in 27.3 overs. Yousuf made 50 with the help of 7 fours and Jazzim 32. left arm spinner Arslan Asad bowled well capturing 7 fir 4 while Waqar Younis gave 23 and Umair Ahmad gave 27 runs and got 2 each.
In reply Al-Imran Cricket Club made required 130 runs without any loss. Umair Ahmad batting brilliantly made 66 with the help of 8 fours and Mir Marsh made 54 runs with help of 8 fours and both remained not out.
