Inspector General of Police Islamabad Captain (Retd) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry has directed police officers to ensure effective security arrangements, prompt response to law and order challenges and timely resolution of citizens’ complaints on merit.
The IGP issued the directions during a citywide visit and a meeting with senior officers, while separate open courts were also held by DIG Islamabad Ali Waseem and SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza to hear citizens’ complaints and provide them relief.
During his citywide visit, the IGP reviewed the overall law and order situation, security arrangements, field deployment, operational preparedness and response mechanism across the federal capital. He met police officers and personnel deployed at various locations and inspected security and policing arrangements on the ground.
Senior officers briefed him about the security situation, ongoing police operations and deployment of field forces.
In view of the anticipated law and order situation, the IGP directed officers to remain fully alert and ensure an effective response to any attempt to disrupt peace.
He directed that all available resources be utilised effectively to protect citizens’ lives and property and maintain a peaceful environment in Islamabad. Police personnel were asked to perform their duties with responsibility, professionalism and vigilance.
Later, a meeting of senior Islamabad Police officers was held under the chairmanship of the IGP, where measures for maintaining law and order, action against criminal elements, facilitation of citizens and further strengthening public-friendly policing were discussed.
The IGP directed officers to focus on crime prevention, ensure timely delivery of police services and adopt a courteous and professional approach towards citizens.
Meanwhile, DIG Islamabad Ali Waseem held an open court at his office and listened to complaints presented by citizens. He directed the concerned officers to take immediate action on the issues raised and ensure their resolution on merit.
SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza also conducted an open court under the police’s open-door policy. He heard citizens’ applications and directed the relevant officers to take legal action within the stipulated time and submit reports.
DIG Ali Waseem said prompt resolution of citizens’ issues strictly on merit was among the top priorities of Islamabad Police. He said citizens could approach open courts without hesitation or recommendation and directly present their complaints to senior police officers. Complaints can also be lodged through the IGP Complaint Cell at 1715.
SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza said Islamabad Police was pursuing a zero-tolerance policy against violence against women and children and would ensure equal treatment of citizens under the rule of law. He said protection of citizens’ lives, property and dignity remained paramount.
The IGP has also directed senior officers to hold open courts across the district, while zonal SPs are conducting similar sessions in their respective zones to bring police services closer to citizens.
