PESHAWAR: Member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Advisory Council for Education Dr Aamer Abdullah has reaffirmed support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, saying Kashmir Black Day serves as a reminder of their longstanding struggle for freedom and fundamental rights. In his message on October 27, he said the arrival of Indian troops in Jammu and Kashmir on October 27, 1947, marked a tragic chapter in the region’s history, which is commemorated every year as Kashmir Black Day. Dr Aamer Abdullah said the Kashmiri people had been struggling for decades to secure their fundamental rights, freedom and the right to self-determination. He stressed that the international community had a responsibility to respect their aspirations and play an effective role in resolving the Kashmir dispute peacefully. He said Pakistan would continue its moral, political and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people. He emphasised that the dispute should be resolved in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people to pave the way for lasting peace and stability in the region. The education adviser further said the sacrifices, determination and steadfastness of the Kashmiri people underscored the significance of their struggle. He reaffirmed the need to continue supporting their legitimate rights and highlighting the Kashmir dispute at international forums. DLP Report
