Pashtoon Garri and Farooq Club entered into the final of the Ramadan Floodlight Volleyball Championship being played here at Taru Jabba ground on Friday.
The final will be played on Saturday with Director General Sports Asfandiyar Khan Khattak will grace the occasion as chief guest. Ex-Director Youth Arshad Hussain, Deputy Director Sports Aziz Ullah Khan were also invited to witness the grand final.
There were vociferous crowd who turned the whole complexion into a melodious one when both Pashtoon Garri and Farooq Club Azakhail registered victories against their respective rivals Maaz Club Urmar and Aamir Club Chagharmatti.
In the first match Pashtoon Garri club of District Nowshera faced tough resistance against Maaz Club of Urmar village and were stretched to five sets battle lasted for one hour and 34 minutes. Pashtoon Garri failed to click in the first set won by Maaz Club Urmar by 23-25. The set was tied right from the outset 5-5, 6-6, 7-7, 11-11, 15-15, 17-17, 18-18, 19-19, 20-20, 21-21, 23-23 and at the end Maaz Club took the set by23-25. For Maaz club Javed Ali, Shakir Ullah, Babar, and Inayat Ullah played well as smashers and blockers while Israr was instrumental as setter.
It was the second set in which Pashtoon Garri club staged a strong comeback and won the set by 25-19. Pashtoon Garri did not faced any resistance and raced to win in the set. When the teams were tied 1-1, it was the third set in which Maaz club again got the lead and won the set by 22-25.
Pashtoon Garri club after conceding another set, managed their position and won two consecutive sets by 27-25 and 25-18. In the second semi-final Farooq Club of Azakhail defeated Aamir Club Charharmatti by 3-2, another thrilling match which was largely enjoyed by capacity crowd present on this occasion.
Farooq Club Azakhail, having strong support of the local crowd, won the first two sets by 25-21 and 25-23 but failed to click in the third and fourth set won by Aamir Club at 23-25 and 27-29. Both Farooq Club and Aamir Club Chagharmatti club played well and received thundering applauses from the sitting spectators on their excellent show of forceful smashes, flying skill-full services and attacking approach.
When the two teams were tied 2-2, it was the fifth set in which Farooq Club raced up to victory at 25-23. Thus both Farooq Club and Pashtoon Garri clubs moved to the final to be played on Saturday.
