PIMS fire incident: Talal Chaudhry visits hospital, vows action

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry on Wednesday visited Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on the special instructions of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi following a fire incident at the hospital.
During the visit, he reviewed the situation, received briefings from officials, and said a detailed rescue report had been sent to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
According to officials, the rescue operation at PIMS was completed and the bodies of the children who lost their lives in the incident were handed over to their families. Authorities said rescue teams responded quickly after receiving information about the fire and began operations within six to seven minutes of reaching the site.
Talal Chaudhry said the rescue operation was carried out in a timely manner and remained focused on evacuating affected individuals and securing the area.
He stated that all relevant administrative officers stayed at the hospital until the operation was completed and continued to monitor the situation throughout the emergency response.
The minister expressed grief over the loss of lives and said the government would ensure accountability. He said strict action would be taken against any individuals found responsible for negligence in connection with the incident. He added that those involved would face punishment under the law after the completion of the investigation process.
Talal Chaudhry said authorities had started a detailed inquiry to determine the cause of the fire and identify those responsible. He noted that relevant departments were collecting evidence and reviewing all aspects of the incident.
Officials said the findings of the investigation would be shared with the concerned authorities after completion of the inquiry. The government has directed departments concerned to cooperate fully with investigators and provide all required information.
