The Oval
New Zealand beat India by six wickets at The Oval. Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson chipped in with half-centuries. The Kiwis outplayed India in all three departments in this match. The Indian team management have plenty to think about their batting performance going into the World Cup. Earlier, New Zealand bowlers restricted India to 179 with Trent Boult scalping four and Jimmy Neesham taking three wickets. Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of the Indian batsmen as he scored a masterful 54.
Smith slams 102-ball 116 against England
Australia batsman Steve Smith slammed a masterful century against England during his team’s first ICC World Cup 2019 warm-up match at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on Saturday. Opening batsman David Warner and middle-order batsman Steve Smith were both jeered by the fans when the duo came out to bat after England won the toss and elected to bowl first. There were scattered boos when opening batsman Warner walked out to bat but there were more boos as he walked off to be replaced by Smith at 82/2.
However, Smith didn’t let that affect him and played a marvellous innings to bail his team out of trouble. His innings included eight boundaries and three massive sixes and his strike rate at the end of the innings read 113.7. Smith innings helped Australia post 297/9 in the allotted 50 overs.
