Peshawar (PR): Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed Chairman HEC paid a visit to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University, Peshawar on November 22, 2016. It was a landmark event for the women university Peshawar. Prof. Mukhtar Ahmed was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana, Vice Chancellor Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University, Peshawar.
Chairman HEC inaugurated the Psychology Research Center which was established by SBBWU, Peshawar and Southern Methodist University under the University Partnership linkage program spearheaded by HEC. The centre is equipped with latest equipment and books which will be highly resourceful to the research scholars.
Chairman HEC also distributed laptops among 71 students of Undergraduate and Graduate level under third distribution of 2nd phase of Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme.
Moreover, cheques were also awarded to 72 students of different departments under HEC Need based Scholarship Program
On the occasion, Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana welcomed the Chairman HEC and briefed him about the university and its futuristic goals. She enlightened the audience about the faculty members of different departments enrolled in various PhD programs both in National and International Universities under Faculty Development Programs. She claimed that: “Within 2.5 years of her tenure, with the help of the young staff and faculty members, the university has managed to create an environment where parents have agreed to send their daughters for acquiring higher education and this has been observed by the increased enrollment rate of the students in the university. Dr. Sultana also requested the Chairman HEC to provide complete access to the HEC Digital Library as the university has initiated PhD program in different departments therefore the research scholars need to access advanced data bases for which cooperation of HEC plays a vital role.
Moreover, different facilities related to sports equipment and infrastructures were also requested.Prof. Dr. Mukhtar, Chairman HEC, Islamabad also addressed the audience and stated that we are happy that Pakistan has flourished in terms of female education.
He declared that HEC has 48% Females and 52% males working in various departments and I hope that this ratio will be increased in coming years. He said that: “We focus on research and provide all the possible facilitation to the universities. Quaid e Azam University is the top research university in Pakistan and 12,000 research papers are added in the pool of knowledge which is a major contribution and pride for Pakistan”. He also said that: “HEC is planning to convert all the varsities into ‘Smart Universities’ by proving unlimited internet facility o the varsities”
Prof. Dr. Mukhtar also made some announcements for the university:
•Presented 1 Crore Cheque to Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana for strengthening sports equipments and infrastructure
•Construction of 2 Hostel Buildings .•Construction of 1 Academic Block.
