Provincial Government is Active in Promoting Youth Welfare, Says Secretary Higher Education Kamran Afridi

A grand event commemorating International Human Rights Day was held at Government City Girls Degree College, Gulbahar, under the auspices of the English Literature Society. The purpose of the event was to raise awareness about human rights, with a special emphasis on children’s rights.
During the ceremony, students delivered compelling speeches on human rights and child protection, addressing topics such as human dignity, equality, and the eradication of injustice. These speeches left a lasting impression on the audience and conveyed a strong message about the importance of safeguarding human rights.
The highlight of the event was a thought-provoking stage drama performed by the students, centered on the theme of injustice against children. The audience applauded the students’ exceptional performance and appreciated their talent.
The chief guest, Secretary of the Higher Education Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Captain (R) Kamran Ahmad Afridi, praised the students’ efforts in his address. He stated, “Our youth is our greatest asset, and they possess immense potential. The government is committed to addressing the challenges faced by young people and enhancing the capacity of educational institutions.”
He further emphasized that the government is taking serious steps to fill teacher shortages, equip colleges with modern facilities, and improve the quality of education.
Captain (R) Kamran Afridi also commended the students’ performances and highlighted the significance of such events in fostering creativity and raising awareness about societal issues among students.
Principal Rabia Sikandar of Government City Girls Degree College also addressed the gathering, appreciating the hard work and dedication of teachers and students in organizing the successful event.
As a token of recognition, the Secretary of Higher Education awarded special certificates and prizes to students of City Girls College who had excelled in various inter-college competitions during 2024, including sports, essay writing, and debates.
The event concluded with a strong message of unity and a commitment to uphold the principles of human rights in society.
