Act Introduced to stop Illegal mining in KP

Peshawar(PR):The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Mineral Development Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli has said that the Provincial Government has introduced new Mineral Act to develop mineral sector and facilitate the mines owners aiming to stop way of corruption, illegal mining and ensure effective role of mineral department as real regulator.
Amendment would be made in the said act with the consensus of all stakeholders to make the mineral act fruitful in all respect. The main stakeholders of mineral sector were the mines owners therefore facilitating them and generating large revenue from mineral sector was top priority of our government.
This she said while presiding a meeting regarding the new mineral act 2016 at Peshawar on the other day. Representative of mines owners association, DG Mineral Development, Director Planning, Chief Commissioner Mines and other relevant officials attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the participants suggested some necessary amendments in many clauses of the said act as to make it more effective and beneficial. The minister constituted a joint committee of mines owners and mineral department under the chairmanship of Director Planning Syed Bilal Khusro. The committee would review the act clause wise and would recommended changes in those clauses which needed improvement. The minister went on to say that four model check posts were being established in the province equipped with latest facilities included machine readable challan book to ensure the collection of royalty in good manner. She said establishment of mineral bank was under consideration, while a Cell for adopting the mechanize blasting techniques would also be established in near future to promote the safe blasting in mining.
During the meeting, the mines owners also suggested some necessary amendments in clauses of the new mineral act 2016.
