Adviser to the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Information and Public Relations, Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement Samar Haroon Bilour has ordered a comprehensive record of government vehicles belonging to the Relief Department and its subordinate organisations, seeking details of vehicles reported missing or untraceable over the past 13 years.
The adviser has directed the department to identify unaccounted-for vehicles and the officials and employees responsible for their custody and maintenance, said a handout.
She has also sought complete details of all government vehicles currently in use by the department, including registration numbers, manufacturers, models and the names and designations of officers and employees using them.
The relevant authorities have been directed to issue notices to officials and employees allegedly responsible for missing or unaccounted-for vehicles.
“All concerned officials and employees must produce the government vehicles within 72 hours, failing which legal action will be initiated,” she warned.
The Relief Department has been directed to verify all the required information and submit a comprehensive report within five days.
Samar Haroon Bilour said government vehicles and other public resources were a public trust and their protection and proper utilisation would not be compromised.
She said ensuring transparency in the record of government assets, accountability and identification of those responsible were among her top priorities.
She added that effective measures would be taken to prevent unnecessary use of public resources, negligence and irregularities.
The adviser directed all relevant officials to ensure the accuracy and availability of government vehicle records, making it clear that no negligence or lapse in maintaining the record would be tolerated.
