Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Finance and Inter-Provincial Coordination Muzammil Aslam held a significant meeting with Hafiz Mohibullah Shakir, the Consul General of Afghanistan, at the Civil Secretariat, Peshawar.
According to a statement, the two officials discussed key issues surrounding bilateral trade, exports, and imports between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The Afghan Consul General requested reduced tax rates on bilateral trade, which Muzammil Aslam assured would be taken up with the federal government.
The Consul General also emphasized the importance of timely clearance, unloading, and offloading of vegetables and fruits at the border, highlighting the mutual benefits for both nations. In response, Muzammil Aslam agreed to take immediate measures to address these concerns.
Additionally, the Afghan Consul General proposed revisions to the trade scanning procedure.
This suggestion was thoroughly discussed, with the Finance Advisor committing to writing to the federal government to explore feasible solutions.
The meeting concluded with Muzammil Aslam presenting a shield to the Afghan Consul General, symbolizing the commitment to fostering stronger ties between the two neighbors.
