PESHAWAR
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Housing Dr Amjad Ali on Thursday signed an agreement with a private construction company Partner Leaf to establish a mega city project at Nowshera district.
The agreement signing ceremony was held at the Civil Secretariat Peshawar which was attended by the additional secretary housing, director general provincial housing authority, Assistant Commissioner Pubbi and other concerned officers.
Speaking to media persons, Dr Amjad said that Pakistan Tehreek-e- Insaf (PTI) government was taking practical steps to set up mega housing societies across the province to provide affordable houses to low income people of the society.
Sharing details of the housing project at district Nowsehra, the provincial minister said the mega city Nowshera Phase One consisted of 8,160 kanals of land and 9,504 plots.
Minister for Housing Dr Amjad Ali said that the project launched by the housing department aimed at providing better housing facilities to the low-income and middle class. On completion of the first phase, another 8,000 kanals of land would be added to the project, he added.
The provincial minister said that the Provincial Housing Authority was moving ahead with the mega city project under the partnership and facilitation mechanism of private construction company Partner Leaf.
He said that the completion of the first phase of the mega city project would bring billions of rupees to the provincial government.
Minister for Housing Dr Amjad Ali further said that thanks to the investor friendly policies of the provincial government, owners of private companies and firms are also turning to KP.
He said that the projects launched by the housing department were aimed at providing better housing facilities to the low-income and middle class. Dr Amjad Ali said that with proper housing schemes, not only the problems of growing population in cities could be overcome, but it will also significantly increase rural development and especially economic activities.
