Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan on Friday said agricultural research was the cornerstone of national development and food security, describing the services of agricultural scientists as highly commendable.
He was addressing an award ceremony held in Peshawar to honour scientists of the Agricultural Research Institute (ARI), Mingora, Swat. The event was organised on the special directives of Adviser to the Chief Minister on Agriculture Mian Muhammad Umar.
Scientists from ARI Mingora were presented honorary shields in recognition of their outstanding research contributions and professional achievements.
Speaking on the occasion, Shafi Jan said agriculture remained one of the most important sectors of the provincial economy and acknowledged the vital role of agricultural scientists in ensuring sustainable agricultural development and strengthening food security.
Addressing the ceremony, Adviser to the Chief Minister on Agriculture Mian Muhammad Umar said researchers played a fundamental role in the progress and prosperity of nations through knowledge and innovation. He said the provincial government was taking comprehensive measures to promote agriculture and improve the welfare of farmers.
He said the scientists of ARI Mingora had rendered remarkable services in agricultural research and that the ceremony had been organised to acknowledge their valuable contributions.
The adviser said the government would continue to take all possible steps to promote agricultural research, encourage scientists, and address their professional issues so that the benefits of modern research could reach farmers directly.
Director Planning, Agriculture Research, Tahir Sajjad thanked the adviser for recognising the services of agricultural scientists.
Director ARI Mingora Dr Roshan Ali described the recognition as a collective achievement of the entire Agriculture Department and reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to serving farmers through modern agricultural research.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of honorary shields among scientists in recognition of their outstanding research services and distinguished performance.
