Aimal demands reopening of probe into BRT Project

The provincial president of Awami National Party (ANP) Aimal Wali Khan has demanded the reopening of inquiry into the mega public transport project completed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the provincial metropolis.
He said that the BRT project was completed but it had tarnished the beauty of Peshawar, adding the business community paid a huge cost of the project and also put a burden on the national kitty.
In a statement issued from the party’s headquarter ANP leader criticized the previous government for committing massive alleged irregularities and mismanagement.
Aimal Wali accused the PTI government for devising no mechanism in the project execution, alleging that more than 21 changes were observed after the PC-1 approval and termed BRT project a white elephant since the first day.
“Bank of West Indies guarantee checks were accepted for the same project, the chief executive of this project involved in mega corruption has already settled abroad”.
ANP leader alleged the members of the PTI were involved in corruption in the project and also accused them of misappropriating the funds for the BRT, saying that such elements need to be exposed and must get exemplary punishment.
The BRT project was launched by the previous government to accumulate money for election campaigns and to meet the election expenses, he added and alleged Rs32 billion direct corruption in the project.
