PESHAWAR: Awami National Party central president Senator Aimal Wali Khan has congratulated Syed Amjad Shah, the joint presidential candidate of Malgari Wakeelan and Independent Group, and his panel on winning the Supreme Court Bar Association elections.
In a statement here on Friday, ANP president congratulated newly elected president Syed Amjad Shah and the entire panel on their impressive success.
Aimal Khan hoped the new leadership would live up to the trust of the legal fraternity and play an effective role for dignity of the bar, independence of judiciary and supremacy of the Constitution.
Senator Aimal Wali said that heavy responsibilities lie on the lawyers’ community in the current political, constitutional and judicial situation.
The struggle of lawyers for stability of democracy, supremacy of the Constitution and protection of civil liberties is a bright chapter of history.
The effective role of the legal fraternity is indispensable for independence of judiciary and protection of fundamental human rights. Democracy could be strengthened and real justice could be provided to people only through supremacy of the Constitution and rule of law.
He said the bar and the bench would have to play their effective role to restore public confidence in the judicial system and ensure access to cheap, speedy and indiscriminate justice.
The ANP believes in supremacy of the Constitution, strengthening of democratic institutions, independence of judiciary and rule of law.
He said the newly elected leadership of SCBA was expected to take practical steps for judicial reforms and timely provision of justice along with protecting the professional rights, dignity and welfare of the lawyers’ community.
He said Malgari Wakeelan was a vanguard of the national movement and congratulated all office-bearers and members of Malgari Wakeelan on the impressive success in the SCBA elections.
He expressed best wishes for the newly elected president Syed Amjad Shah and his entire panel and hoped that the new leadership would discharge its responsibilities efficiently and play its due role in making the SCBA a strong and effective platform for protection of the Constitution, democracy, justice and public rights.
