ISLAMABAD
Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) held the 77th meeting of its Board of Advanced Studies and Research (BASR) under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Nasir Mahmood where a total of 33 PhD scholars presented their research synopses.
On the first day of the meeting on Monday, 16 PhD scholars from the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Social Sciences presented their research proposals. Participants appreciated the scholars’ academic standards, research depth and critical thinking abilities.
The meeting was attended by the University’s deans, senior professors, faculty members and distinguished external experts from various universities across the country.
The agenda of the meeting was presented by Director BASR, Prof. Dr Irshad Ahmad Arshad.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood urged the scholars to focus on innovation, national socio-economic development and international research standards in their studies so that research outcomes could effectively benefit society.
Regarding the allocation of research topics, the Vice Chancellor directed faculties to select themes aligned with contemporary requirements, national priorities and academic needs to ensure the promotion of quality and impactful research in universities.
The participants emphasized the need to further improve research quality, align it with international standards and promote interdisciplinary research.
It was also agreed that quality research plays a vital role not only in academic progress but also in enhancing the University’s positive image at national and international levels.
On the second day of the meeting, 17 research scholars from the Faculty of Sciences and the Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies will defend their research synopses.
