PESHAWAR: After taking oath last week, Akmal Khan Khattak, provincial caretaker minister took charge of his office here on Friday. The Director General of Excise Department and officers welcomed the Caretaker Minister for Excise and taxation. Akmal Khan Khattak held introductory meetings with the heads and senior officials of the excise, taxation and narcotic department. According to the details, after handling the portfolio of his ministry, an introductory meeting about the Excise Department was held in Directorate General Excise under the chairmanship of Ahmed Rasool Bangash, Caretaker Minister for Excise Department, Taxation and Narcotics Control Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In the meeting, Akmal Khan Khattak, Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, gave a detailed briefing to the Minister of Excise Department on the administrative affairs of the department, revenue recovery and ongoing reforms in the department. The provincial minister said that special measures will be taken to improve the efficiency of excise in all districts, while all officers must work hard to the ongoing year target by June. He said that the process of accountability will be ensured and all available resources will be used to eliminate corruption and ensure the supremacy of merit in the department. Mr Khattak added that the resources should be mobilized to provide maximum relief and all possible facilities will be given to the people. The provincial minister for excise expressed his determination to eliminate the scourge of drugs from the society, issued instructions for comprehensive operations, especially against narcotic ice.
