An All Parties Kashmir Conference was held in Slough, UK, under the chairmanship of former Mayor and Councillor Amjad Abbasi, where political and community leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the right of self-determination for the people of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Participants commemorated October 27, 1947, as Black Day, marking the day when Indian forces illegally occupied Kashmir through aerial intervention. The conference, organized at a local hall in Slough, brought together Kashmiri leaders and community members from across the United Kingdom.
The conference was presided over by Councillor Amjad Abbasi, with former AJK Assembly member and Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami, Abdul Rasheed Turabi, as the chief guest. Other prominent speakers included Faheem Kayani, President Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK, Councillor Asim Naveed, and Sardar Shakeel.
Speakers declared that Kashmiri people observe October 27 every year as Black Day to remind the world that their right to self-determination remains unfulfilled. They urged the Kashmiri diaspora in the UK to actively participate in the protest demonstration outside the Indian High Commission in London on October 27.
They further appealed to the international community to ensure the implementation of UN resolutions and to recognize India’s occupation as a violation of international law and human rights.
Councillor Amjad Abbasi said the Kashmiri community in Britain stands united with their brethren in occupied Kashmir and vowed to continue raising the issue at global forums.
Participants reiterated their resolve that until Kashmiris are granted their right to self-determination, the struggle for freedom will continue.
