Also arrested 22 drugs peddlers and impounded three vehicles in separate actions
ISLAMABAD (INP): The Anti-Narcotics Forces (ANF) seized nearly one ton of drugs worth Rs. 1.1 billion in international market in 18 countrywide operations on Friday. The ANF also arrested 22 drug peddlers including a female besides impounding three vehicles.
According to details, the ANF Quetta while carrying out an intelligence based operation intercepted an oil tanker at Panjgur Highway in Panjgur and recovered 720 kilogram opium and 80 kilogram hashish concealed in the secret cavities of the vehicle. However, the persons on board managed to flee from the scene taking advantage of the darkness.
The ANF Quetta in another intelligence based operation seized 36 kg opium and 8kg hashish at Qilla Abdullah. The ANF team raided a site near Syed Hameed Cross, Tehsil Gulstan, district Qilla Abdullah and seized an unattended motorcycle. Search of the luggage loaded on the motorcycle resulted in seizure of 36 kg opium and 8 kg hashish.
As per initial report, the drugs were placed for handing over to some other narcotics gang. In addition, the ANF Quetta recovered 5 kg hashish from possession of two local peddlers identified as Ali Haider and Muhammad Qasim, residents of Quetta while they were riding on a motorcycle near FC Hospital, Opposite to Askari Park, Quetta.
The ANF Rawalpindi recovered 100 gram heroin from possession of a drug peddler accused namely Umar Taj Nawaz, resident of Bannu, who was arrested near Sun Rise Bakers, Holy Family Road, Satellite Town, Rawalpindi. In another operation, the ANF Rawalpindi apprehended a local drug supplier Muhammad Zia resident of Astore along with 900 gram hashish.
He was arrested near bus stand, Jutial, Gilgit. Yet in another operation, the ANF Rawalpindi recovered 90 gram hashish from a lady identified as Tilawat Bibi who was arrested from COD Chowk, Islamabad. In fourth operation, the ANF Rawalpindi arrested a drug peddler named Ibrar Hussain, resident of Gilgit and recovered 600 gram hashish from his possession. He was arrested near Al-Mustafa Public School, Gilgit.
The ANF Lahore Airport team arrested a Nigerian national namely Prince Ayodels at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore while he was to fly for Nigeria through Shaheen Airline Flight NL-766 and recovered 700 grams heroin concealed in his trolley bag. In another operation, the ANF Lahore intercepted a UK destined parcel at an office of courier service company situated in Johar Town, Lahore and seized 810 gram heroin concealed inside the wooden crafts.
The ANF Peshawar Airport team arrested a foreign bound passenger identified as Muhammad Iqbal at Peshawar Airport on suspicion of ingested heroin filled capsules. He intended to board for Ras-al-Khaimah by Air Arabia flight No. G9-825. Later on, 1.36 kg heroin was recovered from heroin filled capsules.
After initial investigations, the ANF raided a house situated in Dir Colony, Ring Road, Peshawar and arrested his two accomplices namely Samar Gull and Majeed Khan, both residents of Khyber Agency. Further follow-up of the case resulted in arrest of sources of supply including Shaheen Shah and Sahib Rasool, residents of Hangu, and Sardar resident of Khyber Agency along with 85 heroin filled capsules containing 560 gram heroin.
The ANF Karachi during a raid in Shar Goth, Sachal, Karachi arrested a local drug peddler namely Dilbar resident of Karachi and recovered 1 kg hashish from his personal possession. In another operation, the ANF Karachi seized 4 kg hashish while raiding a site situated at Tamachi Para, Mehmoodabad, Chanesar Goth, Karachi. The hashish was recovered from an unattended bag.
Yet in another operation, the ANF Karachi intercepted a parcel at an office of courier service company based at Hyderabad and seized 200 gram heroin concealed inside lady’s purse. Parcel was being dispatched to UK. In fourth operation, the ANF Karachi arrested two street drug peddlers Fazal and Muhammad Ahsan, both residents of Karachi and recovered 2 kg heroin from their possession. They were arrested from Pathan Para, Goli Mar, Karachi. In fifth operation, the ANF Karachi arrested Naeem, Namat Ullah and Irfan, all residents of Karachi, recovering 3.17 kg hashish from their personal possession.
They were arrested near Al-badar Medical Store, Mohallah Mushki Para, Manghopeer, Karachi. In sixth operation, the ANF Karachi recovered 2.2 kg hashish while arresting a drug peddler namely Subhan Ali resident of Sanghar at Breeze Fish Point, Giddu Chowk, Hyderabad.
In seventh operation, the ANF Karachi arrested Ali Murad, a resident of Nowshero Feroze along with 900 gram hashish, which was found in his personal possession. He was arrested from Peer Sadiq Goth, Nowshero Feroze. As per report, the accused was involved in distribution of drugs at local level. The ANF Karachi apprehended a local drug peddler indentified as Mushtaq Hussain resident of Karachi along with 2 kg hashish. He was arrest at Kamran Chowrangi near Quetta Awami Zameendar Hotel, Chishti Nagar, Karachi.
Separate cases in all incidents have been registered at respective ANF Police Stations and further investigation was underway.
