ABBOTTABAD
A vibrant opening ceremony of the Annual Sports Week was held here at Government Postgraduate College No. 1 Abbottabad, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aftab, JMC Coordinator and Principal of the college, and Prof. Dr.Faiz Alam, Vice Principal/DDO.
Prof. Azhar Latif Awan, Ex-Director of the Regional Directorate of Higher Education Hazara, Abbottabad, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The ceremony was also honored by the presence of distinguished guests, including Prof. Taj Muhammad, Prof. Jameel Akhter Awan, Prof. Qazi Abdus Subhan, Prof. Mumtaz Haider, Prof. Syed Alamzeb Shah, Prof. Dr. Abdul Wahab Mufti (Ex-Principals of JMC Abbottabad), Prof. Qazi Ihsan Ur Raheem, Principal of GPGC Mandian, Prof. Tariq Abbasi, Principal of GDC Havelian (Pioneer of Sports Week and IDSL at GPGC No. 1 Abbottabad), Prof. Ishtiaq Sarwar, Principal of GDC Nathiagali, Prof. Sultan Zaib, Principal of GDC Boi, and officials from the Regional Directorate of Higher Education Hazara, Abbottabad.
The Sports Week featured an array of exciting activities, including an Inter-departmental Super League (Cricket), with participation from around 15 departments, and over 8 physical and online games, providing a platform for students to showcase their skills and sportsmanship.
In his welcome address, Principal Dr. Muhammad Aftab highlighted the significance of sports in the mental and physical growth of students. He emphasized that sports play a vital role in shaping well-rounded individuals, fostering teamwork, discipline, and healthy competition.
The ceremony set the tone for a week-long celebration of sports, promoting a culture of physical activity and camaraderie among students.
