The provincial president of Awami National Party (ANP) Aimal Wali Khan has said that the PTI government was running to hold party based local body elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
He said that the PTI government feared its failure and used delaying tactics to push back local body polls.
The ANP stands by the court decision on party-based elections, he added.
Addressing a press conference at Bacha Khan Markaz the provincial president demanded of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold local body polls as per the schedule.
Khadim Hussain, Additional General Secretary Rehmat Ali Khan, Deputy General Secretary Timur Baz Khan and other officials of the party were also present on the occasion.
The PTI government is violating Article 140 and wants to deprive the people of resources and powers, Aimal Wali added.
The provincial government wants to test the current local government system in KP as a trial, he said. Even before this, the PTI government has experimented with the local government system.
The ANP has made all preparations for local body polls but the ruling party is creating hurdles to sabotage the process of the elections, Aimal added.
He said that ANP would always raise its voice against discrimination and prejudice on national basis. The entire nation saw what game was played in the name of religious fanaticism in Punjab.
