ANP Central President Aimal Wali Khan on Thursday condemned the brutal assault on a teenage girl in Domail area of the Bunnu district.
Addressing the media, Mr. Khan described the incident as against both humanity and Islam.
Engaging in halal employment to earn a living for one’s dependents was neither a crime under Pakistani law nor contrary to Islamic teachings, he said.
“What crime has she committed by undertaking lawful labour to support her family?” he asked, referring to the merciless attack on the 15‑year‑old in the holy month of Ramadan.
“Inflicting barbarity in the name of religion insults the very principles of Islam.”
He rejected the notion of separate legal standards for Pashtuns and other citizens, asserting that “the power to determine right and wrong and to punish cannot be ceded to any non‑state group.”
Mr. Khan warned that extremists were operating a parallel authority “from Kohat to Waziristan”, effectively undermining the writ of the state. “In areas where the state’s rule has practically ended, ordinary citizens are the ones bearing the consequences,” he said.
Expressing deep concern over the state of internal security, he described the present situation as a direct challenge to the writ of the state and an “alarm bell for society”.
“If this dangerous trend is allowed to persist, the situation will deteriorate beyond imagination,” Mr. Khan added, urging the government to uphold its constitutional responsibility to protect the lives, property and fundamental rights of all citizens.
