The Awami National Party (ANP) has strongly condemned the recent actions taken against Afghan citizens legally residing in the federal capital, Islamabad.
The spokesperson ANP), Engineer Ehsanullah Khan, in a statement, expressed his outrage at the harassment of Afghan women and children in Islamabad, calling it a “shameful act”.
He condemned the ongoing actions against Afghan citizens legally residing in the federal capital, urging the government to stop such practices immediately.
Engineer Ehsanullah Khan further criticized the illegal raids being carried out on the homes of Afghan citizens residing in the city, asserting that these actions appear to be part of an effort to evict Afghan citizens from Islamabad.
Khan highlighted that despite possessing legal documents, Afghan citizens were being subjected to blatant injustice.
He accused the federal government of violating diplomatic principles and breaching UNHCR agreements with these actions.
He emphasized that these Afghan nationals had been forced to seek refuge in Pakistan due to the difficult conditions they faced in Afghanistan, noting that the current Afghan leadership comprises the same individuals who were once welcomed by Pakistan with open arms.
Engineer Khan urged the Pakistani state to resolve its differences with the Afghan Taliban through diplomatic channels rather than resorting to actions that harm innocent civilians. He labeled the treatment of Afghan refugees as a violation of human rights.
The ANP has called on the federal government to urgently address this serious issue and ensure the protection of Afghan citizens’ rights within Pakistan.
The ANP remains firm in its opposition to actions that contribute to the suffering of vulnerable populations and violate fundamental principles of justice and human dignity.
