Awami National Party (ANP) Provincial President Mian Iftikhar Hussain has voiced serious concern and outrage over recent revelations of large-scale financial corruption in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, amounting to over Rs126 billion within a single month. He strongly criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the federal government, powerful institutions, and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for their alleged silence and complicity.
Addressing a press conference, Mian Iftikhar highlighted key scandals, including the Rs50 billion case linked to former provincial minister Taimur Jhagra, Rs40 billion reportedly embezzled from bank accounts, and a Rs36 billion scandal in Kohistan. He termed these developments not as coincidences, but as evidence of what he described as “corruption-driven policies” under the PTI government.
“The silence of the federal government, institutions, and NAB clearly points to a secret collusion,” he alleged, claiming that corruption in the KP government is being deliberately ignored in exchange for political obedience to the federation. He cited the Mines and Minerals Bill as a glaring example of this nexus.
Mian Iftikhar also took a swipe at former Prime Minister Imran Khan, accusing him of turning a blind eye to the plundering of KP. “The man who once claimed to be ‘Sadiq and Ameen’ is now silent in jail while the province suffers. It seems even from behind bars, he is receiving his share,” he added sarcastically.
Calling for action, the ANP leader demanded the formation of an impartial judicial commission to investigate the alleged corruption scandals and urged for transparent accountability at the national level. He appealed to the people of KP to raise their voices against what he termed as systemic injustice. “This province has been looted in broad daylight. Silence is no longer an option,” ANP leader said.
