PESHAWAR
The provincial president of Awami National Party (ANP) Mian Iftikhar Hussain has expressed serious concern over the recently announced Peshawar Board results for first-year students, in which 56 percent of candidates were declared failed.
Calling it an “educational tragedy,” he accused the PTI-led provincial government of deliberately destroying the education system and pushing the youth toward a dark future.
Mian Iftikhar said, “For the first time in history, the Peshawar Board announced the first-year results after the second year’s, and that too in the dead of night, as if something suspicious was being hidden from the public eye.”
He criticized the results, saying that such a high failure rate was not just an academic issue but a glaring reflection of the government’s failed education policies.
Mian Iftikhar alleged that the purpose behind such controversial results was to generate massive revenue through supplementary exam fees. “There is a plan to collect around Rs 1.5 billion from students through re-examination fees.
The ANP leader demanded the immediate formation of an independent and transparent inquiry commission to investigate the entire process of result compilation and announcement. He also called for remedial classes and special academic support for failed students.
