Awami National Party (ANP) General Secretary and Parliamentary Leader Sardar Hussain Babak Tuesday deplored prolonged power loadshedding coupled with low voltage in the province and demanded an end to this.
In a statement issued here, he said that power loadshedding and low voltage had made life miserable for the people of KP, adding that despite generating 7000mw cheap electricity the province was facing the wrath of unscheduled loadshedding and that too at high rates.
He further said that the price of per unit electricity had already become out of the reach of poor people, adding that several factories had closed their operations in KP due to loadshedding.
Babak urged the federal government to take notice of prolonged loadshedding in KP besides initiating work on more power generation projects; as there was a great potential of power generation in KP, he added.
He said that KP province was not getting net hydel profit from the last many years due to which the financial problems of the province had aggravated. He warned that this injustice with the people of the province would not be tolerated anymore.
Babak said that KP province was rich in several natural resources which made it the richest province of the country but unfortunately due to injustices of the past federal governments the people of KP were forced to lead a miserable life, he remarked.
The ANP leader demanded immediate repairing of transmission lines in KP to address the issue of low voltage and also urged the federal government to take serious steps to address the issue of loadshedding in the province.
